Carbon County Jail Records Start Here
The official Carbon County Jail Bookings page is the first online stop for current local custody. The county labels the public table "Current Bookings." It is free, does not require a login, and works as a searchable table rather than a full inmate-profile portal. The Sheriff is Jeff Wood, and the jail is operated by the Carbon County Sheriff's Office. The roster is tied to the Carbon County Jail, where the county says inmates from law-enforcement agencies across the county are housed.
The table should be read as a current local jail record, not a final criminal case record. The county's jail-bookings page warns that suspects are considered innocent until proven guilty and that listed charges are preliminary and subject to change. That warning matters because a jail hold may change after prosecutor screening, a first appearance, a bond decision, or transfer to another agency. If a court case has already been filed, the court record may show more current charging language than the booking row.
The official current bookings table is shown in the county screenshot used for this build.

The image shows the public roster format: a compact table with names, booking number, arrival, and hold fields instead of a long inmate profile.
Use Carbon County Jail Bookings
The roster has one global Search box. It does not present separate fields for last name, first name, booking number, date of birth, housing unit, or facility. Sorting, pagination, and export buttons help when browsing a longer current list. The table configuration found in the county source uses a default last-name sort and a standard rows-per-page menu. It also offers Print, Excel, CSV, and Copy tools for visible table data.
- Open the official Carbon County Jail Bookings page and read the disclaimer before treating any hold as final.
- Use the Search box for a last name, first name, booking number, or a word from a hold field.
- Sort LAST_NAME or Arrival if browsing the current jail population instead of searching one person.
- Use the rows-per-page control or pagination when the table extends beyond one screen.
- If the person is not listed, call Carbon County Jail at (435) 636-3254 and ask whether the person is in current custody.
- If the person was sentenced to prison, search the Utah Department of Corrections instead of the county roster.
- For federal or immigration custody, use the BOP locator or ICE ODLS, then use VINELink for custody or release notifications where available.
Note: Carbon County did not publish a roster refresh schedule or release-retention period in the official sources reviewed.
Carbon County Roster Search Fields
The Carbon County jail roster is useful because it is direct and public, but its search controls are lean. The visible columns are searchable or sortable table data, while the single Search box runs across the visible row fields. Smart search and regex search were disabled in the table configuration captured from the county site. A reader should not expect a separate arrest-agency filter, DOB field, bond search, or housing search from this public table.

Carbon County Inmate Record Fields
A Carbon County inmate record on the public bookings page is a table row. No clickable public full profile was located in the page text or table configuration. That means the online record is narrower than many commercial inmate-search pages suggest. It gives enough information to confirm a likely current booking, but it does not replace the jail information line, the court docket, or a GRAMA request when a detailed booking record, photo, report, or release fact is needed.
| Field | What It Shows |
|---|---|
| Booking Number | Shown as BookingNo; a numeric field with no county-published format guide. |
| Booking Date / Arrival | Arrival column, used for the date or time a person entered jail custody. |
| Name | Split into LAST_NAME and FIRST_NAME columns. |
| Mugshot | No public image column was located in the official table configuration. |
| Demographics | No public DOB, age, sex, race, height, weight, hair, or eye fields were located. |
| Charges / Holds | Shown as HOLDS1, HOLDS2, and HOLDS3; they are preliminary jail hold fields. |
| Bond | No public bond amount field was located. |
| Housing | No public housing unit, pod, or classification field was located. |
| Court Date | No court date column was located on the public roster. |
| Status / Release | The page is a current bookings table, not a release-history database. |
Carbon County Jail Contact Card
When the online roster is inconclusive, contact the jail before assuming the person was never booked. The county jail is open at all hours, but the sheriff business office has weekday business hours. The jail and sheriff office share the same address in Price, yet they handle different questions. Current custody, visiting, and booking questions go to the jail line. Administrative sheriff business and records routing may start with the business office or county GRAMA channel.

Non-emergency dispatch and deputy requests use (435) 637-0890. Emergency calls use 911. The sheriff business office email listed in the research is SheriffsOfficeAdmin@carbon.utah.gov, and the sheriff/jail page names Sheriff Jeff Wood for the 2023-2026 term.
Carbon County Booking Records by GRAMA
Carbon County gives a public roster for current bookings, but more detailed jail records may require a public-records request. Utah's Government Records Access and Management Act, often called GRAMA, is the state process for asking a government office to inspect or receive public records unless a restriction applies. The Carbon County GRAMA page says county requests go through the County Clerk because the Clerk is the appointed records officer. Written requests may be submitted online, in person, or by mail using the county form.
For sheriff records, the Sheriff's Office services page says police reports, photos, dashcam or video, and booking photos require a GRAMA request. Posted sheriff fees in the research are $5.00 for police reports, $25.00 for photos, and $25.00 for dashcam or videos. Utah Code 63G-2-201 states the general right to inspect public records, while Utah Code 63G-2-203 allows reasonable records fees tied to the cost of providing records.
The Carbon County GRAMA request page is the county source for request routing.

That channel is the fallback when the public roster omits a field, when a booking is no longer current, or when the requested record is not displayed online.
Carbon County Custody Search Channels
Carbon County jail records cover people in local custody at the county jail. They do not cover every person with a Carbon County criminal case, warrant, sentence, detainer, or supervision status. A person may be booked locally, released before a search is run, transferred to a state prison after sentencing, held on a federal matter, or placed in immigration custody. VINELink adds notification support, but it is not a substitute for the county jail roster when the question is current local booking status.

| Immigration detention | ICE ODLS | ICE detainee search by A-number or biographical data. |
County Jail Records Versus UDC
The Utah Department of Corrections makes a sharp distinction that affects Carbon County inmate records. UDC Offender Search covers people currently incarcerated by UDC or on Utah probation or parole. It does not list people awaiting trial or not yet sentenced while housed in a county jail. A person can be on the Carbon County roster today and later appear in UDC after sentencing and transfer. The reverse can also happen when a state-supervised person is held locally on a new arrest or warrant.
The UDC Offender Search page is the statewide source for sentenced prison or supervision lookup.

Use the UDC locator only after the custody question has moved beyond a current local jail booking or when probation, parole, or prison status is the issue.
| System | Who It Covers | What It Does Not Cover |
|---|---|---|
| Carbon County Jail Bookings | Current local jail custody in Carbon County. | State prison custody, federal prison, ICE custody, and detailed court dockets. |
| UDC Offender Search | Utah prison, probation, and parole custody or supervision. | Unsentenced county jail detainees awaiting trial. |
| BOP Inmate Locator | Federal inmates from 1982 to present. | County jail bookings and state prison cases. |
| ICE ODLS | Immigration detainees in ICE custody. | County jail custody unless ICE has taken custody. |
| VINELink | Custody and release notification support. | Complete jail profiles, court filings, or GRAMA records. |
Carbon County Booking and Intake
Carbon County does not publish a detailed booking manual, so the confirmed local facts should stay separate from general jail process. The official sources confirm that people arrested by the sheriff, Price, Helper, Wellington, East Carbon, Utah Highway Patrol, Adult Probation and Parole, and other local agencies may be housed at Carbon County Jail. Intake creates a booking number and arrival record. The public table may then show up to three hold fields, but internal classification, housing assignment, medical screening, property handling, and release processing details are not posted in the public roster.
After booking, the case may move toward release, bond, first appearance, prosecutor review, or another hold. Carbon County Attorney materials say prosecutors file charges only when they believe probable cause exists, admissible evidence can support conviction beyond a reasonable doubt, and filing is in the interests of justice. Justice Court handles class B and class C misdemeanors, infractions, and local ordinance cases. Seventh District Court handles class A misdemeanors and felonies. The jail record is therefore an intake record; the court record is the filed case record.

Carbon County Jail Visitation
The official jail page gives a simple visitor schedule and a fee-based video kiosk option. It does not publish a full dress code, visit length table, minor-visitor rule, attorney-visit rule, or mail policy in the sources reviewed. Because those rules can affect whether a visit is allowed, confirm current custody, identity rules, property limits, and visit method with the jail before traveling to Price or paying for remote services.
| Visit or Access Type | Schedule / Access | Source Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Jail visitor hours | 6am to 9pm | Posted by Carbon County sheriff/jail page. |
| Lobby / public access | Lobby open 24 hours; jail open 24 hours including holidays | Posted by Carbon County sheriff/jail page. |
| Video kiosk visitation | Available and fee-based | Supports texts and virtual visits; county links Inmate Canteen. |
| Attorney visits | Not published in official Carbon source | Call the jail before arrival. |
| Dress code, ID, minor rules | Not published in official Carbon source | Call the jail before arrival. |
Carbon County Inmate Contact Options
The county page links Inmate Canteen for video kiosk visitation, texts, and virtual visits. The research did not locate a Carbon County-specific deposit schedule, phone rate table, mail format, property rule, commissary limit, or kiosk fee table. Treat Inmate Canteen as the communication and possible funds route only after confirming the person is in custody and the jail still uses that service for the needed function.
No dedicated Carbon County Sheriff mobile app, Price Police app, Helper Police app, Wellington Police app, or East Carbon Police app with an inmate roster or warrant search was located. Related apps exist, but they serve narrower roles. Inmate Canteen is a vendor app for paid communication. VINELink is a notification app and web service. Neither replaces the official county current-bookings table.
| Service | Provider / Method | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Video, texts, virtual visits | Inmate Canteen | County says fee-based; exact Carbon fee schedule not posted. |
| Custody notifications | Utah VINELink | Free web notification service; phone registration also available through VINE. |
| Commissary deposits | Confirm with jail or Inmate Canteen | Deposit methods, limits, and fees were not posted in official Carbon sources. |
| Confirm with Carbon County Jail | No official mail format or prohibited-item list was located. |
Note: Confirm custody by roster or phone before sending money, using paid video, or mailing items to the jail.
